DOUBLE JEOPARDY – C?CO PRODUCTIONS 2001 (GREENSLEEVES RHYTHM ALBUM #13)
Double Jeopardy Overview
Greensleeves Records was the label behind the Double Jeopardy bashment riddim, a standout release from 2001. This project brought together some of dancehall’s biggest names, each adding their own style to the energetic beat. Beenie Man, known for his Grammy-winning album "Art and Life," delivered the track "Reasoning." Cecile and Elephant Man teamed up for "Bad Gal, Bad Man," mixing Cecile’s smooth vocals with Elephant Man’s lively delivery. Lexxus, who had already made waves with his hit "Cook," gave fans "Do As I Say" on this riddim. Mr Vegas, famous for his chart-topping single "Heads High," brought his catchy flow to "Damn Right." Hawkeye, a regular on the dancehall scene, contributed "My Style," showing off his unique voice. Other artists also featured on the riddim, including Sizzla with "Gunshot," Tanto Metro & Devonte with "Double Jeopardy," Frisco Kid with "For Dem," Alizade with "Phenomenal," and Elephant Man again with "Passa Passa." The bashment arranger played a key role in shaping the project’s sound, capturing the energy of yard music at the time. With each artist riding the riddim in their own way, Double Jeopardy showed why bashment was the heartbeat of the dancehall scene in 2001.
