DIGITAL-B SELECTIONS VOL.1 – DIGITAL-B 1989
Digital-b Selections Vol.1 – Digital-b Overview
The bashment rhythm is making noise again with a strong line-up of tracks on this new release. Songs like Bunny General — Everybody Jump, Clement Irie — Bun & Cheese, and Coco Tea — Lonesome Side show the riddim’s energy and range. Each artist brings their own style to the same driving beat, giving dancehall fans plenty to enjoy on the dancefloor. Colin Roach steps in with Johnny Too Bad, adding his recognizable voice to the mix. Courtney Melody’s Your Love is another highlight. Courtney Melody is well known for his classic song Bad Boy, which helped make him a household name in dancehall. Coco Tea, who sings Lonesome Side here, is famous for big hits like Rikers Island and has worked with international stars, including Shabba Ranks. Other standout tracks include Daddy Lizard — Inaculator, Eccleton Jarrett — Kill A Sound, Pad Anthony — Death To A Sound, Shabba Ranks — Peeny Peeny, and Tuffest — Wave Yu Hand. Shabba Ranks, who appears with Peeny Peeny, is a Grammy-winning artist and one of dancehall’s most celebrated names. The producer behind this project is Bobby Digital, also known as Bobby Dixon. He is respected for shaping the sound of digital dancehall in the late 1980s and 1990s, working with many of the genre’s biggest artists. Today, this bashment rhythm is still shaking speakers at bashment events, proving its lasting power and influence in dancehall music.
