BOSS LADY RIDDIM produced by SHORT BOSS MUZIK 2015
Boss Lady Overview
In early 2015, Jamaica’s dancehall scene got a new spark with the release of the “Boss Lady Riddim” compilation. This project quickly became a favorite in yards and street parties across the island. The riddim brought together some of dancehall’s well-known voices, each adding their own style to the beat. Demarco, known for his hit “Fallen Soldiers,” stepped up with “Collar Who.” His track gave the compilation a strong, catchy start. Pg 13, a group that often worked with Vybz Kartel, added “Happy Day,” bringing a lighter, uplifting vibe. Shawn Storm, a longtime Gaza member, delivered “Nuh Call Me.” He has been a steady name in dancehall, especially for his work alongside Kartel. Gaza Tussan’s “Big Woman” kept the energy going, while Vybz Kartel himself, one of Jamaica’s biggest dancehall stars, gave fans “Boss Lady.” Kartel is famous worldwide for songs like “Fever” and “Clarks,” and his presence on the riddim made it even more popular. The mastermind behind the project was SHORT BOSS MUZIK. This label is closely connected to Vybz Kartel’s camp and is known for producing several big riddims and songs since its launch. SHORT BOSS MUZIK’s touch on the “Boss Lady Riddim” brought out sharp horn sections and modern beats, making it stand out in a year full of strong dancehall releases. By bringing together these artists and a fresh sound, the “Boss Lady Riddim” became a true anthem of 2015.
