Three Vybz Kartel cuts sitting beside Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Sizzla, Bling Dawg, and Roundhead tell you right away this was meant to work as a street-level dancehall set, not a polite showcase. Black Attack comes out of the Vendetta camp in 2004, with Donovan Bennett and Nigel Staff credited behind the production, and it runs like a taut, trimmed-down riddim built for fast reloads and sharp voicing. Bounty Killer’s “Punanny” and the Kartel trio of “Gal U Nuh Sadomite, ” “Sen Dem, ” and “Send Dem (Raw)” are the obvious pressure points, while Elephant Man and Sizzla keep the energy pointed straight at the dance. The version cut sits right there too, and the whole thing leans on a clipped, militant bounce with a hard bassline that leaves the deejays plenty of room to jab at the rhythm.
