A lean, bass-heavy dancehall groove with just enough swing to keep it moving, Money Riddim comes off like one of those early-2000s juggling sessions that knew exactly how to leave space for the voicings. Rashanco keeps the rhythm spare and hard, so when Richie Spice steps in on “Galang Yah Gal” or Natural Black cuts into “Money, ” the vocals sit right on top of the pulse instead of fighting it. Prezident Brown’s “Cornerstone” brings a steadier roots-minded edge, while Mr. Lexx and Daily Bread push the set a little rougher on “Delicasse. ” Released in 2004, the line-up has that lived-in Kingston-to-New York dancehall feel, and the little version cut at the top gives the whole thing a proper juggling-room start.
