ARENA RIDDIM produced by SHERKHAN / TIGER RECORDS 2009
Arena Overview
Arena Riddim first made waves in 2009, coming out of Jamaica’s busy dancehall scene. The mix was put together by Sherkhan and released through TIGER RECORDS, a label known for pushing fresh talent and new sounds in reggae and dancehall. Sherkhan, the producer, has worked with many artists in the genre and helped bring attention to several standout riddims over the years. The Arena Riddim release brought together a small but strong lineup of artists. Busy Signal, already a big name by 2009, added his energy with two songs: "We Nuh Play With People" and "Myspace." Busy Signal was known for his versatility and hits like "Night Shift," and he had already built a reputation for blending dancehall and reggae styles. Teflon, another voice on the riddim, contributed the track "Ive Been Working." Teflon had made a name for himself with socially conscious lyrics and powerful delivery. Jah Trouble’s song "Me Nuh Know" gave the mix a different flavor, showing off his unique vocal style. Sherkhan’s work as the producer was key to the riddim’s sound. Under TIGER RECORDS, he created a backdrop that mixed hardcore dancehall vibes with catchy hooks. The riddim "Arena Riddim" itself, produced by Sherkhan, stood out for its upbeat energy and dancefloor feel. Looking back, the Arena Riddim captured the spirit of 2009 dancehall. It blended raw party energy with memorable melodies, making it a favorite for both DJs and fans.
