Water Drops Riddim produced by Amplex Records 2009
Water Drops Overview
In 2009, a reggae rhythm project came out that really captured the old-school roots reggae feeling. It was built around warm, steady drum patterns and deep bass. The groove was easy to feel, and the percussion kept the energy moving. This kind of rhythm made it perfect for sound systems, where people could dance and enjoy the music together. Several well-known artists recorded songs on this rhythm. Spanner Banner brought his song "Journey Is Not Over." He’s known for his hit "Life Goes On" from the 1990s, and his smooth voice fits perfectly with roots reggae. Gyptian performed "Harda They Come." Gyptian later became famous for his international hit "Hold Yuh," but here he showed his early roots style. Singer J delivered "Pick The Beam," and Lutan Fyah sang "Lie To Me." Anthony B, who is respected for his powerful lyrics and has performed worldwide, added "Cant Take Your Place." Each artist added their own style, but the rhythm kept everything connected. The producer behind this project was Amplex Records. Amplex Records is a Jamaican label known for working with both new and established reggae artists. They focus on strong roots reggae sounds and often highlight social issues in their productions. This 2009 release was played by many sound systems, helping to keep roots reggae alive and strong in dancehalls and on the radio.
