Tropics Riddim – Sage Records

Tropics Riddim comes in light on its feet, with a clean, breezy dancehall pulse that leaves room for the hooks to breathe. Sage Records keeps the cast tight here: Meusik’s “Young” and Tabeta Cshae’s “Top Gyal” do most of the heavy lifting, while Vaygan’s “Young, Rich and Happy” leans into the same youthful, aspirational mood from a different angle. There’s a neat symmetry to the set, too, because the instrumental sits right alongside the vocals instead of feeling like an afterthought. Compared with Sage’s 2018 Sage Dem Riddim, this one feels a touch more polished and relaxed, less raw-edged and more summer-ready. At five tracks, it lands as a compact entry in the label’s catalogue, but one that keeps Sage’s dancehall run moving with purpose.
