By 2019, Hevs Records was firmly in that gritty dancehall pocket where singjay hooks, sharp-edged patois lines and rugged one-drop bounce could all sit on the same riddim, and Ready Up fits right into that moment. Bareface’s “Shell Bay Show” is the obvious pull, especially with both raw and clean versions in the set, but D Block’s “Fight The Fight” and Shu Shu’s “Money Text” keep the energy up with cut-through street talk over a tight, no-frills groove; Erok, I Am Musa and Sickame round out the vocal cuts without cluttering the thing. The production keeps it lean and muscular, with the instrumental left in at the end so the riddim can breathe on its own. Ready Up Riddim lands as a nine-track package from Hevs Records, with seven artists across the vocal sides and an instrumental closing the sequence.
