Stamina Riddim – Futureline Records 1999
Stamina Overview
The sound of the late 1990s reggae scene was shaped by skilled dub engineers. Their work in the studio brought out the deep bass and crisp drums that made roots reggae stand out. On the Stamina Riddim, the dub engineer’s touch helped to give each song a fresh energy, keeping the roots sound alive in 1999. The Stamina Riddim featured a strong lineup of artists. Future Line opened with "Mad Bull Version," laying down a solid instrumental. Future Troubles followed with "Stamina." He is known in dancehall for his energetic delivery and had earlier success with the hit song "Ghetto Story." Major Mackrel brought his unique voice to "Catty." He is famous in Jamaica for his playful lyrics and for the popular track "Dutty Bungle." Regga B’s "No New To Dis" added more flavor to the set. Simple Man came in with "Pokemon," giving the riddim another distinct style. Each artist used the same musical backdrop, but their different voices and lyrics gave every track its own feeling. This collection showed how reggae could stay true to its roots while allowing artists to express themselves. The Stamina Riddim helped keep reggae’s message and sound strong as the new millennium approached.
