Spot Check Riddim – Nap Musiq

The Spot Check riddim came out of NAP Musiq’s 2007 run with a sharp little dancehall package that leans on rugged talk-over energy and a tight, streetwise bounce, with Beenie Man’s “Just A Man, ” Kiprich’s “The Streets, ” and Pinchers’ “Badman and Police” giving it the kind of frontline presence that makes these one-riddim sets stick in the memory. Elliven’s NAP camp had already started building a reputation by then, and this one sits comfortably in that era: hard-edged but not overcrowded, with Mr Perfect even getting two shots at “Chuck Off” in clean and raw form, plus a “Version” cut to close the circle. Turbulence rounds it out with “My Herbz, ” and the tracklist runs ten cuts deep in total.
