Splash Riddim comes out of Danny Browne’s Juvenile imprint in 1998, right in the middle of the era when his productions were helping shape late-’90s dancehall. Browne was already a major Kingston name through Main Street, and Splash sits comfortably in that same sharp, radio-ready pocket: fast-moving, glossy, and geared for the selector. The rhythm has that clean, punchy bounce that lets the deejays crowd the pocket without stepping on each other.
There’s also strong supporting fire from General Degree, Hawkeye, Goofy, Captain Barkey, Skatta and Italee, with the Goofy and Red Rat combination on “Advice” adding an extra layer of interplay. “Di Count” and “Run Him Like Goat” are the kind of hard-nosed cuts that keep the juggling moving, while “Damn It” and “Brag Pon Mi Man” round out a set that feels built for sound-system rotation rather than polite listening.
Another timeless hit dancehall riddim from the 90s.
