Jah Melody’s “Hot Woman” gives the Splash Riddim its sharpest opening statement, easing in before the set turns toward the tougher talk from Grant on “Badness No Sense” and Militant on “Hopeless Gyal. ” This 2006 dancehall juggling keeps the cast lean, with seven cuts in all, so each voice gets enough room to leave a mark rather than disappearing into the mix. Jr Levi’s “One Empress” brings a more lovers-minded touch, while Kenny Blessings’ “Unknown” and Stiky Dan’s “Mr Fantastik” push the energy back into streetwise territory. The sequence feels like one of those mid-2000s riddims that moves cleanly between flirtation and badman talk, with the version tucked in as the usual anchor. Even so, it’s Jah Melody who sets the tone and keeps pulling the ear back to the front of the tracklist.
