Tuff Gong Records kept this one tight in 2006, working a classic dancehall shape that nods back to the old “Hot This Year”/“Drum Song” pattern with that brisk, rolling bounce and heavy keyboard pulse. The lineup is lean: Buju Banton’s “Mr Bad Mind” brings the sharpest edge, while Coco Tea’s “Stop It” and Dirtsman’s title tune keep the riddim rooted in that early-’90s style of melodic, streetwise talk over a cut designed for the dance. No filler, no long roster, just three vocals carried straight through on the same framework, with Dirtsman’s original anthem still looming over the whole thing. Hot This Year Riddim was issued by Tuff Gong Records in 2006.
