Things You Love Riddim – Treasure Isle

In 1969, Duke Reid’s Treasure Isle gave The Jamaicans and U Roy the same backbone cut on Things You Love, a rocksteady-era rhythm that captures the label’s smooth but punchy style at the end of the decade. The Jamaicans handle the original Things You Love version, while U Roy’s toast turns it into one of those early deejay moments that helped define the Treasure Isle sound in a new way. Reid was already one of the key architects of ska and rocksteady by then, and this release fits neatly into that run of classic sessions from his Kingston camp.
