Spirits Anthem Riddim – Rally Up Music

Spirits Anthem Riddim comes out of Rally Up Music’s 2016 run with the sort of uptempo steppers pulse that would’ve sat nicely in sound system sets from Brooklyn to Kingston, and the early press around it framed the project as a follow-up to the label’s I-Draw Riddim debut. Jahdan Blakkamoore’s “Habari” and Perfect Giddimani’s “Straight Cookie” give the riddim two sharp opening statements, while Junior Toots and Tuff Like Iron bring a strong push on “Guidance” and Raggalox keeps the mood grounded with “Desolate Places. ” The whole thing was produced by Byron Green, Jamaki “de Khemist” Knight and King Kanashi I, with mixing done at Sonic Zen Studios in Kingston, which helps explain the clean, forward-driving finish. It sits neatly in Rally Up’s catalogue as one of those 2016 compilations that leaned on message songs and selector-friendly momentum without overcomplicating the formula.
