Sanction Riddim – Uim Records

Sharp, tense, and a little playful, Sanction Riddim lands in that early-2010s dancehall moment when a one-drop melody was less important than the bassline’s attitude. UIM Records lined up a strong mix of voices around it: Beenie Man’s “Tell Me Why” brings the instant hook, Konshens goes full bruiser on “Kuffin Kuffin Kuffin, ” and Mr. Vegas keeps the energy high with “Show Me Dem, ” while Cherine Anderson, D’Angel, Natel and Timberlee and Toi push the femaleside with their own flavors. Anju Blaxx’s UIM camp had already started turning heads around this period, and Sanction helped mark that run with a compact 13-track set that also slips in the closing group cut from Voicemail, Ding Dong and Johnny Bravo, “ABC (Fast Or Slow). ”
