Jah Army Riddim – Frankie Music

By 2016, Frankie Music was working in the busy one-riddim lane that kept reggae juggling moving through that period, and Jah Army fits right into that run with a compact six-song set. Chevaughn’s “Memories, ” Lutan Fyah’s “Just Another Spliff, ” and Raging Fyah’s “Jah Glory” are the names that jump out first, with Torch’s “Get Up, Stand Up” pushing the militant edge a little harder. The production keeps a rootsy, mid-tempo pulse, letting the arrangement breathe around the bass and drum pattern instead of crowding it with extra ornament. There’s a clean, marching feel to the whole thing, and the vocalists lean into that with steady, chant-like phrasing. It’s a concise riddim release, about 25 minutes long, cut as a digital EP in March 2016.
