Road Pest Riddim – Blaqk Sheep Music

Road Pest Riddim comes with a tight, 14-cut dancehall lineup that leans hard on the clash-ready side of the genre, with Alkaline’s “Mouth Talk” opening the set in both raw and clean form and Macka Diamond and Timberlee also getting the double-treatment. Blaqk Sheep Music keeps the rhythm lean and punchy, the kind of sparring, street-facing riddim that gives Alozade’s “Tip Har, ” Bramma’s “Dancehall Burial, ” and Hawkeye’s “Badda Than Dem” plenty of room to jab and toast over the same nagging groove. The project was issued in December 2013 even though it’s usually filed as a 2014 riddim, which fits the way these compilations often circulate before they’re later catalogued. Magazeen’s “Twerky” lands near the back end, and the two versions of Timberlee’s “Spit” close things out on a sharp note.
