Retarded Riddim – Goodlife Music

In the 2011 dancehall run coming out of Goodlife Music, Retarded Riddim sits as a compact four-artist set with a heavy local-rude-boy feel, led by Newbalanz on “Crick Crick” and “Fat Suh” alongside Pearla’s “Party” and Snoops’ “Wife Material. ” The sequence is lean: three vocal cuts, then the version, which gives the riddim a clean, DJ-friendly shape and leaves the instrumental to do its own talking. It’s the kind of mid-tempo bashment piece that leans on attitude more than polish, with the title track’s misspelt “Retarded Riddm” version closing out the five-track lineup.
