In 1999, reggae music was mixing old roots sounds with new ideas. That year, the Potcover Riddim project brought together talented voices and strong rhythms. The producer, SIZE 8 PRODUCTIONS, was known for blending classic reggae with modern touches. Their work helped keep the roots style alive, while also making it fresh for a new generation. This riddim featured several well-known artists. Chrissy D gave us “Strike Like Matches,” showing her smooth singing style. She is known for hits like “Sugar Sugar” and has worked with many top reggae acts. Cobra, famous for energetic songs like “Flex,” brought his unique flair to “Tek It Off.” Degree, who made waves with the song “Traffic Blocking,” delivered “Dutch Pot” on this project, keeping up his reputation for catchy dancehall tracks. Lady Saw, often called the Queen of Dancehall, performed “Nah Mix Nah Mingle.” She is known for her powerful voice and has won a Grammy for her work on “Underneath It All” with No Doubt. Only One Man joined with “Lady G,” adding more variety to the set. Potcover Riddim was part of the roots sessions of 1999. It mixed culture and soul, bringing together strong voices and deep reggae grooves, all under the careful direction of SIZE 8 PRODUCTIONS.
