A warm, rootsy groove with a light sway and enough low-end to keep it moving sits under Plant A Seed Riddim, the 2017 Daily Ites Productions set. Chuck Fenda opens it with “Soldier, ” and his steely voice gives the riddim a serious edge before Owen Knibbs’ “Leaders” and Phorien’s “Joy” carry the message into more uplifted territory. Mykal Daley’s “Good Vibes” and Madi Simmons’ title cut lean into the positivity, while Fhiyashua’s “Life Is The Greatest” keeps the conscious tone flowing. Daily Ites also tacks on the instrumental, which lets the arrangement breathe and shows how much of the tune lives in the drum-and-bass pocket. It landed in a strong run of mid-2010s reggae riddims that kept rootical songwriting and sing-along hooks front and center.
