OLD MEXICAN RIDDIM produced by FM RECORDS 2014
Old Mexican Overview
Back in 2014, dancehall music was full of energy and bold sounds. One of the true highlights from that year was the selector’s choice on the Old Mexican Riddim. This mix really showed the rebellious feeling of the time. When you listen to it, you feel the raw spirit that was popular in dancehall then. The lineup was strong. Beenie Man came in with “Girls In Every Angle.” Beenie Man is known worldwide, and he even won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2001. His song on this riddim brought his usual flair and style. Bling Dog’s “Fiesta” was also a big tune, showing his skill at making party tracks that get crowds moving. Carlington Morrison gave us “Don’t Want To Know,” adding his own flavor and emotion. Danny English was there too, with “When I Move,” and Elephant Man, famous for his energetic stage shows and hits like “Pon De River, Pon De Bank,” delivered “Wock Yo.” Each artist added something special. Compared to other dancehall mixes from 2014, the selector’s choice on the Old Mexican Riddim stood out for its pure dancehall sound. Many other mixes were starting to blend in more pop or hip hop, but this one stayed true to the roots. FM RECORDS, the producer, played a big part in keeping the sound tight and the harmonies smooth. FM RECORDS has a history of working with top artists and always brings out the best in vocalists.
