A little deeper into Sababa Riddim and the title tune has that warm, forward-moving reggae pulse you’d expect from a 2013 juggling, with Ej Rams and Ijahdan Taurus setting the pace before Dan Tafari’s “For A Reason” and Ijahdan Taurus’ own “Sababa Remix” give it a couple of the sharper turns. The vocal list keeps the energy varied without overcrowding the cut, from Iriemiah Stevens’ “Always There” to Jahagree’s “Forever Praise Jah” and Protect I’s “Simba Orchestra, ” and the whole thing runs as an eight-track set, with Red Lion Aka Redda Fella closing on “Forward. ” There’s a nice balance here between conscious writing and chant-style delivery, which suits the rhythm’s easy skank and steady bassline.
