Giddimani Records usually sits in a roots-conscious lane, but Old Jack Plug Riddim has a tighter, dubwise pulse that feels designed for singers to ride rather than for big crossover noise, and the strongest cut comes early with Perfect Giddimani linking up with Phil Watkis and Young Shanty on “Congo Dread. ” Kazam Davis’ “Hallelujah” and Teacha Dee’s “Mental Problem” keep the mood grounded in social commentary, while King Mas and Menny More bring a firmer edge to “East Bound Train” and “Natty Youth, ” all carried by a lean, rolling rhythm that leaves plenty of room for the vocals. The set was issued in 2018 and runs 13 tracks deep, closing out with the title cut and a dub version built with Sam Gilly.
