Mean Girl Riddim (2016) – Uncle T

Mean Girl Riddim came out in 2016 on Uncle T Records, with digital distribution through 21st Hapilos. The title nods to the old Studio One-era Mean Girl riddim, but this version updates the lane with a cleaner, modern digital finish while keeping the classic one-drop pulse at the center.

Bounty Killer and Friends open with “The Real Score, ” setting a rough-edged tone before Frankie Paul, Sanchez, Cocoa Tea, Horace Andy, Ken Boothe, Thriller U, Al Campbell, Anthony Malvo, Anthony Red Rose, Brian and Tony Gold, and Collin Roach each take a turn. Dean Fraser’s “Dean’s Score” adds a musician’s touch, and that cut helps underline how this set sits halfway between lovers rock sweetness and conscious reggae seriousness.
