Out of the 2012 dancehall wave, LBF Riddim sits in that lean, street-ready lane where a handful of voices have to do the heavy lifting over one stripped-back cut. K. E. M Productions keeps the rhythm taut and rubbery, leaving enough space for G’s “Take Me Away, ” Abi’s workaday lift on “Nine To Five, ” and Track Starr’s “Can’t Wait No Longer” to land with extra bite in both clean and raw form. Jungleman’s “Hold Me Close” and Demmo D’s “Watch Dem” keep the energy moving, while Scifi’s “Fun Tonight” gives the set a brighter finish. There were seven tracks in all, with six different artists, which gives the project that quick-hit compilation feel popular in the early-2010s dancehall era, when producers were chasing sharp hooks and immediate replay value.
