Lava Lamp Riddim – Artica Production

Lava Lamp Riddim sits a little outside the tougher dancehall material Artica Production has become associated with, leaning instead into bright, carnival-minded soca with a playful edge and a name that feels almost cheeky for the season it came out in. Johnny Prospects’ “Sharks and Bananas” and Lyrikal’s “Bumper Dystrukshun” give the rhythm its loudest pull, while Wildfire’s “Crazy” and Young Image’s “Play Jab Or Die” keep the pace jumping with that jab-jab energy and quick, skittering momentum underneath. The lineup is compact, just five tracks in all, and the one-riddim format lets the production’s punchy, party-first feel come through without much distraction, with Kuttit’s “Javelins – Like Keshorn” adding a clever local touch to the set.
