Dutch Productions kept Junkie Bacchanal tight and road-ready in 2013, cutting a five-track soca set that moves with a quick Carnival pace and a distinctly St. Lucian feel. The lineup is lean rather than crowded, so each voice gets room: Ajrenalin opens with “Parti Mi Seh, ” D’sean Soldya leans into “Jookay, ” and Q Pid teams with Ambi on “Chipping, ” which sits nicely beside the title cut’s bigger bacchanal energy. Mongstar and Ricky T lock the centre of the riddim with “Junkie Bacchanal, ” and that pair also anchors the project’s most obvious crowd-mover. Dutch Productions was already part of the island’s soca circuit by then, and this one sounds like music built for the road, with Soca Princess’ “Soca Man” giving the closing stretch a final burst of parade-day momentum.
