Classic 60S Riddim – Millbeatz Entertainment

Millbeatz usually leans into big, muscular carnival soca, but Classic 60S Riddim takes a slightly more nostalgic route, dressing the groove in a throwback frame without losing the jump-up energy. The cut with Olatunji and Iwer George, “Play Ah Mas, ” feels like the obvious crowd-puller: bright, forward, and built for the road. “Break Away, ” pairing Shurwayne Winchester with Lord Nelson, has a more playful chemistry, with both voices riding the rhythm like they’ve got history with this kind of hook. Anslem Douglas and Lil Bitts keep “I Want To Know” a touch more melodic, while Zan and Ronnie McIntosh close things out with “Good Morning” in a way that keeps the whole project moving. Released in 2013, it lands right in that sweet spot where Carnival season chatter and radio-ready soca were feeding each other.
