Kool Runnings Riddim (2007) – Hyper Active Entertainment

In 2007, Hyper Active Entertainment linked up a pretty heavyweight reggae cast for Kool Runnings, and the riddim feels like one of those mid-2000s rootsy one-sets with enough pressure under it to keep the sound system moving. Alaine’s “Get Over Me” and Busy Signal’s “Hard Times” sit alongside sharper-cut turns from Bunny Rugs, Norris Man and Wayne Marshall, while Da’Ville and Don Yute’s “Oh Baby” adds a smoother, more melodic touch in the middle of the sequence. Esco’s “Marijuana” and Ginjah’s “Revelation” keep the conscious edge in view, which gives the project a nice balance between lover’s rock warmth and tougher reasoning.
