Journeys Riddim – Techniques Records

Three songs and a clean little lineup is all Techniques needed to make Journeys Riddim feel memorable: Christopher Martin, Richie Spice, and Feluke each take a turn on a 2015 set that leans toward lovers rock warmth rather than heavy bashment pressure. Christopher Martin’s “Champagne For My Real Friends” has that easy, polished charm he does so well, while Richie Spice’s “Soaring In Love” gives the rhythm its sweetest moment, riding the groove with a calm, uplifting touch. Feluke’s “Fine Wine” keeps the mood in the same lane, adding a bit of youthful sparkle to the mix. Coming out in April 2015, the release sits nicely in that period when Techniques was still mining classic-sounding reggae with a modern polish, and this one keeps the focus tight with just enough voices to let the riddim breathe.
