Picture Frame Riddim – Kheil Stone Music

2015 was a busy stretch for reggae riddim culture, and Kheil Stone Music’s Picture Frame Riddim landed right in that era with a polished, melody-minded one-drop feel that sits closer to rootsy modern reggae than hard-edged dancehall. Delly Ranx’s “Make It Happen” gives the set some of its most familiar weight, while Terri Lion’s title cut and Chris Matic’s “I Don’T Wanna” help anchor a lineup that also runs through Esco, Kappa, Kim Kelly and others without losing its easy flow. Kheil Stone, credited here as the producer and artist behind the riddim, had already been building a catalogue of instrumental projects by then, and this one keeps the focus on warm guitar lines, patient percussion and a clean vocal showcase. The release arrived on April 21, 2015 and runs 11 songs over 33 minutes.
