GOOD SAMARITAN RIDDIM produced by XTERMINATOR
Good Samaritan Overview
XTERMINATOR Records was the label behind one of 1997’s standout roots reggae riddims. Known for its strong roots foundation, XTERMINATOR was led by producer Philip “Fatis” Burrell, who played a key role in shaping the sound of modern reggae. Burrell’s label helped launch and support many conscious reggae artists, and his productions are still respected today for their deep, spiritual sound. On this riddim, several important artists came together. Cocoa Tea delivered “Rastaman,” adding his smooth voice and signature style. Cocoa Tea is well known for his classic hit “Rikers Island” and his long career in reggae music. Good Samaritan, performed by Mickey General, brought a message of kindness and social awareness, fitting perfectly with the roots vibe of the release. Luciano, with “Friend In Need,” added his uplifting vocals. Luciano is famous for his album “Where There Is Life,” which includes the hit track “It’s Me Again Jah.” Sizzla contributed “Love Amongst My Brethren,” showcasing the conscious lyrics that helped define his career. Sizzla’s album “Black Woman & Child” is a landmark in roots reggae. The culture arranger on this project helped keep the riddim’s flow steady and soulful. The producer, XTERMINATOR, is celebrated for working with major reggae artists and for bringing a fresh, roots-driven sound to the late 1990s. This release was a strong reflection of 1997’s conscious reggae movement.
