1986’s Golden Hen Riddim draws together versions for Uptempo, Kingston 11, Stone Love and Rashanco, with Keith Gorgon, Stephen King, King Jammy and Father Pow all in the production mix. Anchored by the classic Tenor Saw cut Golden Hen, the set also pulls in Danny Virgo’s Tick-A-Tac, Gorgon Players’ Golden Dub, Bounty Killer’s Kill Or Be Killed, Bobby Crystal’s Take A Bow, and later cuts from George Nooks, Luciano, Half Pint and Jah Mason. The riddim traces back to the Mad Mad line and was named for the 1986 hit that gave it its identity, making this one a key link between the late-’80s foundation era and later dancehall versions.
