Summer Time Riddim – Sunshot Records

Phil Pratt’s Sunshot Records issued Summer Time in 1978, a two-track roots-era set built around Pat Kelly’s Summer Time and the Pratt All Stars’ Summer Version. The release keeps the arrangement spare and version-focused, with Kelly’s vocal cut followed by the instrumental take that lets the rhythm breathe on its own. Phil Pratt, one of reggae’s steady producers through the 1970s, was behind a long run of Sunshot material, and this one fits neatly into that catalog with its simple singer-and-version format.
