Drumline Riddim – Black Chiney Records

Black Chiney’s Drumline Riddim sits right in that sharp, percussion-heavy dancehall pocket the Miami crew was known for, with the title itself hinting at the militant snare-and-drum push that drives the whole thing. The lineup reads like a late-2000s clash sheet: Vybz Kartel turns in the venomous “Pussyhole Mafraudo, ” Mavado fires back with “Mr Palmer, ” and Busy Signal, Aidonia and Assassin all lock into the rhythm with the kind of terse, streetwise writing that suited this era. Produced by Dwayne Chin-Quee and Black Chiney Records, the project also pulled in Ward 21, Hollow Point and Junior Killer, giving the riddim a mix of big-name tension and rough-edged support voices. The set was issued in 2007 and runs through 10 tracks, ending with Ward 21’s “2000 Gal. ”
