Doctor Bird Riddim – Massive B Productions / Black Chiney Records

The Doctor Bird riddim had a slick, late-2000s crossover feel, with Collie Buddz, Wayne Wonder and T. O. K. lining up alongside Nina Sky and Notch, so it carried that sweet spot where radio-ready hooks meet proper dancehall weight. The version that really locks it in is Collie Buddz’s “Tomorrow’s Another Day, ” while Wayne Wonder’s “L. O. V. E” keeps the set leaning melodic; even Lindo P’s “The System” adds a sharper edge in the middle of all that smoothness. Produced by Dwayne Chin-Quee and Mitchum Chin under Black Chiney, the project came out in 2008 and also pulled in Richie Spice on “Babylon Going Down, ” giving the riddim a broader roots-to-digital spread. It runs through eight cuts, ending with the “Dr. Bird Rhythm Version. ”
