Design Riddim produced by Greenyard Records 2010
Design Overview
Back in 2010, reggae music was changing, but it still loved the old rocksteady flow. This style is slow and steady, with deep bass and a smooth beat. Many roots reggae projects at the time used faster rhythms or mixed in dancehall sounds. But some artists and producers wanted to keep the classic vibe alive. Greenyard Records did just that with their project, “Design Riddim.” They are known for working with roots reggae and have produced many tracks that stay true to the genre. The label has been active in the reggae scene for years and is respected for its quality productions. On “Design Riddim,” you can hear Anthony B with his song “Protect Me.” Anthony B is famous for his powerful voice and songs like “Fire Pon Rome.” Burro Banton also joins with “Blaze It.” Burro Banton is known for his deep voice and long career in dancehall and reggae. Tony Curtis sings his own version of “Blaze It,” bringing a soulful touch. Konshens, another popular artist, adds “Never Fall.” Konshens is known for his hit “Gal a Bubble” and has reached international charts. Each artist rides the riddim’s rocksteady groove, showing respect for the roots style. Compared to other roots projects from 2010, “Design Riddim” stands out for keeping the rocksteady sound strong. Greenyard Records and these artists made sure the old-school vibe stayed fresh.
