Because Riddim – Greenyard

Eight voices ride Greenyard’s 2016 Because Riddim, and the lineup gives the whole project its shape right away: Chronixx’s “Do Right” sits alongside Tony Curtis, Pressure, Turbulence, Loyal Flames, Torch, Solaion and Riwan, so you get a cross-section of roots-minded singers moving over the same cut. The production keeps that modern reggae sheen but leaves enough space for the vocals to breathe, which is exactly why Chronixx’s contribution pops early and why Pressure’s “Africa” and Turbulence’s “Ever Load” land with extra weight. Greenyard Records had the riddim out in July 2016, and the set runs through eight tracks in all, closing with Riwan’s “The Best Is Coming. ”
