Lion Paw Riddim (2016) – Shiah Records

In 2016, when roots-conscious reggae was finding fresh life inside modern juggling again, Shiah Records came through with Lion Paw, a seven-cut riddim that leans into that dubby, lion-heart pulse without losing its dancehall edge. Chronixx’s “Out Deh” and Lutan Fyah’s “Never Ever” set the tone with serious weight, but the curveball is Voicemail’s “This Music, ” which gives the set a livelier dancefloor kick and keeps the riddim from settling into pure meditation. Kelissa’s “Stick Up” and Keznamdi’s “Cool It” sit nicely in that same space, while Shiah Coore, son of Cat Coore, said he was aiming to bring back the roots element he grew up hearing. The release runs seven tracks deep, with Aiasha and Zagga closing out the full tracklist.
