Chocolat Overview
The Chocolat Riddim release brought together a vibrant collection of soca tracks that energized fans during Carnival 2023. The project features five songs, each with its own flavor and energy. BlackChiney’s “Never Give Up” opens with a message of resilience and positivity, setting an uplifting tone. J'urgen delivers “Layaway,” a catchy tune that keeps the groove going strong. Nicole David’s “Deliberately” adds a confident, soulful touch to the mix. Qpid joins in with “We International,” celebrating unity and the global reach of soca music. Ricky T rounds out the riddim with “For You,” bringing his signature style to the dancefloor. Each artist on the Chocolat Riddim brings their own history and style. BlackChiney, known for their work as both DJs and producers, have made a name with their genre-blending approach. J'urgen, a rising voice in soca, continues to build his reputation with energetic performances. Nicole David is no stranger to the limelight; her earlier hit “Wuk Up On It” helped her gain recognition across the Caribbean. Qpid, who has collaborated with several top soca acts, is celebrated for her powerful vocals and stage presence. Ricky T, a St. Lucian star, is widely known for his 2007 soca anthem “Pressure Boom,” which dominated regional charts and remains a Carnival favorite. Behind the scenes, STRATOSPHERE MUZIC produced the riddim, giving it a signature sound inspired by the rhythms of the coastline. The label, led by producer Lashley “Motto” Winter, has played a key role in modern soca, producing hits that have gained millions of streams. With Chocolat Riddim, they once again captured the joyful spirit of Carnival, uniting artists and fans in celebration.
