Cable Overview
In 2001, a new dancehall riddim called Cable Riddim dropped in Jamaica and quickly became a favorite in the dancehall scene. The riddim was produced by KING OF KINGS, a production team known for shaping the sound of early 2000s dancehall. KING OF KINGS, led by Clifton "Specialist" Dillon, has worked with some of the biggest names in reggae and dancehall, helping to launch and support many artists’ careers. Cable Riddim stood out for its thick, bass-heavy groove, which made it perfect for club play and dancehall sessions. The riddim brought together several top artists, each adding their unique style. Anthony B delivered the track “All The Woman Dem.” Anthony B is well known for his energetic performances and conscious lyrics, with hits like “Raid Di Barn” and the album “Real Revolutionary.” Bling Dawg contributed with “All Dem A Hate.” Bling Dawg is recognized for his deep voice and has collaborated with stars like Bounty Killer. Capleton, a key figure in dancehall and reggae, voiced the song “Cable.” Capleton, also called “The Prophet,” is famous for songs such as “Tour” and for his fiery stage presence. Elephant Man, known for his lively dance tunes and the hit “Pon De River Pon De Bank,” appeared on the riddim with “Unfortunately.” Louie Culture, a respected veteran in the scene, performed “Dem Gwaan.” The Cable Riddim’s bashment flow became a touchstone of dancehall in 2001.
