Glen Washington

Glen Washington was born in 1957 in Clarendon Parish in Jamiaca and his music career began in the early 70s. Washington was taught to play drums in a band called Stepping Stone by Joseph Hill of Culture. In 1978, their connection led to a recording session at Joe Gibbs’ Studio and the release of Washington’s vocal debut “Rockers No Crackers” He continued recording as a solo singer and mostly as a studio drummer. He also laid tracks for various artists. Washington continued as a full time drummer in bands such as Avengers, The Titans and Happiness Unlimited. He then migrated to the USA with Happiness Unlimited  to work with Stevie Wonder. In 1997 Washington had recording sessions with producer Clement Dodd and as a result he released his debut album “Brother to Brother”. The following year, he released his classic album “Next To You” for producers Lloyd Campbell and Jason Sterling and from this album came the famous hit “Kindness For Weakness”. He went on to release several more albums including “Can’t You See” produced by Jah Life Records, ” Think About It” by Philip Smart, “Number One Girl” produced by Lloyd Campbell & Jason Sterling, “Solitary Red Zone” produced by Ruff Stuff, “Your Love” produced by Lloyd Campbell & Jason Sterling and many others. Washington toured the world as a drummer and as a featured artist.
