The hook here is the old-school 54-46 name, but Flash It Up Music treats it less like a nostalgia exercise and more like a fresh vocal showcase. Volume 2 runs with a lively, rootsy rocksteady feel, then opens it up for a spread of voices from CaSh Flow, Deewaï, Hanne P, Micky B, and Captain Töbie, with Tribuman’s horn version at the end giving the whole set a proper instrumental lift. Compared with the first pass in the series, this one leans harder into exclusive new cuts rather than remix territory, which keeps the energy moving and the arrangement changes noticeable from tune to tune. Lord Lyta’s production sits comfortably in that Flash It Up lane: respectful to the classic “54-46” foundation, but not trapped by it, and this second volume feels like the point where the label turns that idea into a full compilation style.
