60 Riddim – Rising Time Entertainment

Rising Time Entertainment’s 60 Riddim came through in 2015 with a short, sharp three-track lineup that leans hard into the genre’s older pulse, closer to ska and rock steady than modern digital bashment. Andy Mittoo’s “Vicino A Te” gives it a bright, melodic lift, while Beska Roots’ “Dimmi Dimmi” and Sista Namely’s “Forgive Me” keep the mood rooted and reflective, each voice sitting neatly on the same stripped-back groove. The whole thing feels like an early statement from Rising Time, a Milan-based outfit that was presenting this as its first production, and that sense of fresh ambition comes through in the clean, nostalgic approach. In a year when plenty of reggae projects were chasing bigger sounds, this one kept its focus on feel, harmony, and the kind of bounce that still nods back to the island’s 1960s foundation.
