In 1990, reggae music was still powered by the strong beat of the one drop. This classic rhythm, with its heavy bass and sharp snare, was the heartbeat of roots reggae. Producers and artists built their songs on this foundation, and it helped reggae travel from Jamaica to the world. CARGILL 'MR DOO' LAWRENCE was one of the important producers at the time. He ran the Mr Doo label, which became known for releasing many strong reggae singles in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Mr Doo worked with both new artists and veterans, helping to shape the sound of the era. His productions were known for their clean sound and dancefloor appeal.
