A grimy little 1987 dancehall set, Works For The Future Part 1 hangs on the “Two Year Old” riddim and its child-mocking hook, which gives the whole thing a cheeky edge right away. Hyman Wright and Percy Chin keep the groove tight under Jah Life Time, and the way Admiral Bailey rides “Ruff Neck Chicken” feels like the clearest snapshot here: sharp, rude, and built for sound system play. King Kong turns up twice and keeps the pressure on, while Peter Metro and I Roy push the more sly, conversational side of the riddim. The track count is hefty too, with 12 cuts and 10 different voices, plus a little extra bite from Singing Melody’s “To Young To Fall In Love” at the end.
