Healthy Body Riddim – Black Scorpio

1989’s Healthy Body Riddim on Black Scorpio brings together a sharp little dancehall lineup with Johnny P’s title tune, Josey Wales on Mutual Right, Little John’s Nah Hold It Down, and Weng Weng’s Agony Love. Produced by Maurice Johnson, the set sits neatly in the late-’80s Black Scorpio era, when the label was turning out some of its most recognizable dancehall work. Johnny P’s Healthy Body is the obvious anchor, but the mix of seasoned voices gives the riddim a fuller edge, and the release also fits into the run of Black Scorpio productions that helped define the sound of that period.
