Coming out of the early-2000s dancehall run, Wave Riddim captures that rough, street-level energy Xplicit Productions was pushing in 2002, with a lean, driving groove that leaves plenty of room for voices like Alozade on “New Thing, ” Frisco Kid on “Mad At Dem, ” Harry Toddler’s “Endorse The Girl, ” and Ward 21’s “I Was Weak. ” The set runs long and keeps a proper juggling feel, with the instrumental version tucked in among 20 tracks and enough variety to move from Afro G’s “Friday Night Traffic” to Sizzla’s “Love Is So Pure” without losing momentum. It also turns up Mr. Lexx, Determine, and Vegas, which gives the riddim a strong mid-2000s dancehall stamp. Wave Riddim lists 21 unique artists across 20 cuts.
